More Than Just Stone: Why Coco, a Cuppa and a Range of Samples Make SharpStone the Showroom Visit You Actually Enjoy

Let’s be honest, most people do not look forward to showroom visits, as they expect awkward small talk, pushy sales pitches, and being steered towards whatever needs shifting that month. It then feels like a chore rather than an experience, and by the time you leave, you are no closer to making a decision.

At SharpStone, things work a little differently, and we guarantee you will enjoy your showroom experience. For a start, the first member of the team to greet you probably has four legs.

Meet Coco: Our Head of Client Relations

Before you even have a chance to take a look at the stone surfaces we have to offer, you will almost certainly be welcomed by Coco, our showroom dog and self-appointed head of client relations. She takes her role very seriously. Wagging her tail and trying to get the most attention, and if you happen to have treats in your pocket, you will be her favourite person for the rest of the day.

This might sound like a small thing, but Coco actually sets the tone for the entire visit. She breaks the ice and settles clients who arrive feeling nervous about making their big decision, and find themselves smiling within seconds. Thanks to Coco. Children who have been dragged along suddenly have a reason to enjoy themselves. And couples who cannot agree on anything somehow find common ground in fussing over Coco.

In other words, she takes the pressure out of the room before it even builds. And that matters more than most people realise.

Why Seeing Stone in Person Still Matters

In a world where you can browse hundreds of worktops online, why would you visit a showroom? It’s a fair question, though the answer is quite simply that stone is a material you need to experience up close.

Photographs can show you colour and patterns, but they cannot show you how light plays across a polished quartz surface at different times of the day. They cannot capture the subtle texture of a honed finish or the depth of veining that makes one Calacatta slab feel completely different from another. Most importantly, they cannot tell you how a particular stone will feel in your kitchen, alongside your cabinets, under your lighting.

This is exactly why we have a vast amount of samples on display at SharpStone. Not tucked away in drawers or hidden behind a counter, but out in the open in our luxurious showroom. You can touch them, hold them up to the light and lay them side by side. Quartz, marble-effect quartz, porcelain and natural stone, all there for you to compare without any rush.

It’s an entirely different experience from looking at a photo.

No Pressure, Just Honest Advice

One of the things we love to hear from our clients is how refreshing it feels to visit SharpStone. Our approach has always been the same: we listen first, advise second and let you decide in your own time.

When you visit, our team will ask about your kitchen or space, your lifestyle and what matters most to you. Are you looking for something dramatic and bold, or do you prefer a quieter luxury? Do you have young children and a busy family kitchen that can handle the chaos, or is it a sleek entertaining space where aesthetics come first? Does your kitchen flood with natural light, or does it need a surface that brings its own warmth?

These conversations help narrow down our samples to a shortlist that genuinely suits your home. We will guide you through how different materials perform over time, how edges and finishes change the look of a worktop, and what to expect from the templating and installation process.

The Details That Make the Difference

Beyond the samples and the expertise, there are smaller touches that make a SharpStone visit feel different from the usual showroom experience.

We are based in the countryside, so the views are incredible. There is free parking, so you are not circling the block or watching a meter. There is always a cup of tea or coffee on offer, because choosing a worktop should not feel rushed. The showroom is laid out so you can take your time, move between materials at your own pace and revisit anything that caught your eye earlier.

On top of all this, you are more than welcome to bring your own samples. Cabinet door swatches, tile offcuts, paint chips, whatever you need to see alongside the stone. Our team actively encourages it because matching materials in person is always more reliable than comparing colours from memory.

And of course, Coco will be on hand throughout.

It’s More Than a Transaction

What sets SharpStone apart is that the showroom visit begins with a relationship, not a transaction. The people you meet as you enter the door are the ones who will guide you through the process.

The trust starts from the very first conversation. You get to know the team and understand how we work. This continuity of professionalism is something our clients value enormously, and we take real pride in it.

If you have a question after your visit, call us and speak to the same friendly team who made you a cuppa and introduced you to Coco.
