With 10 years of experience in the stone industry, Sharpstone has a comprehensive range of beautiful, engineered quartzite worktops, created to meet the demands of modern living. Hard wearing and easy to care for, Sharpstone is ideal for the kitchen and bathroom.
Quartzite is a metamorphic rock which is constructed from 100% quartz sandstone through a natural process called metamorphism. The quartz sandstone is put into an enormous amount of heat and pressure under the earths ground. The result of this creates grains of quartz that are tightly compacted together, making the end product extremely tough and durable.
The difference between quartz and quartzite can be confusing since many people think they are just the same, however that is not the case. The difference between the two kitchen worktops is quite simple actually, quartzite is naturally made by mother nature while quartz is man-made. The two worktops do of course have similarities because they both share the same base quartz material.
We at Sharpstone have seen the demand for quartzite continue to increase in the last few years. It simply has the right blend of strength and beauty – stronger than granite and as elegant as marble.
Quartzite worktops can make a valuable addition to your kitchen or even bathroom, adding a touch of class and give the “wow” factor. If you are looking for swirls and veins but require a much lower maintenance worktop then a quartzite worktop is the perfect choice.
There are several reasons behind quartzite rapid popularity in recent years. Although it is stronger than granite, it is much cheaper. It makes an elegance looking kitchen worktop with hardly any need for maintenance which is a very important decision factor with the hectic lifestyles we all live. Quartzite stone is also water, heat and acid-resistant.
